MUNICH, Germany -- The international sports scene is about to see a spark of Blue and Gold.

Nick Semptimphelter, John Carroll football's star quarterback, has signed with the German Football League (GFL) for the 2026 season. He will be playing with the Munich Cowboys, one of the league's founding teams from 1979 with a rich history and a semifinals appearance in 2025.

Starting at the quarterback position for the 2024 and 2025 seasons, Semptimphelter has seen incredible success as a Blue Streak. In his first season, he placed second in completion percentage and third in passing percentage in the nation. John Carroll's move to the NCAC saw him raise the bar and thrive.

In 2025, his 77.9% season pass completion and his single game 96.2% pass completion have been written in the NCAA record books. He was awarded D3football.com Fourth Team All-American as well as All-NCAC First Team honor. Semptimphelter was a semifinalist for the 2025 Gagliardi and Campbell Trophies.

The Tennessean proved to be a key piece in leading the Blue Streaks all the way to the semifinals of the 2025 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

Needless to say, these accomplishments caught the attention of the international stage. According to their official website, Munich's Head Coach Christos Lambropoulos stated: "Nick is a very mature and intelligent player whose abilities are a perfect match for our offensive system and style of play. He is extremely precise, efficient, and makes excellent decisions – all of which combined makes him a great playmaker. Nick's leadership qualities and experience will be a tremendous asset to our team this season."

Semptimphelter's first game with the Cowboys will be on May 9. One of the last JCU players in recent memory was Tom Arth '03, who played for the Hamburg Sea Devils in NFL Europe in 2005.

As Semptimphelter's journey takes him across the pond to Europe, the Blue Streak spirit and support go with him.
