Basheer Alramahi (Westlake, Ohio) Wins This Year's NCAA Elite 90 Award For Division III Men's Track & Field
BIRMINGHAM, AL – Basheer Alramahi, a senior at John Carroll University, is the recipient of the Elite Scholar-Athlete award for the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championship.

Basheer, majoring in Biology, currently carries a 4.00 GPA. He was presented with the award during the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday afternoon in Birmingham, Alabama at the Birmingham Crossplex.

This is the second consecutive year that the senior has won the award. Basheer is the first athlete in the history of Division III Track & Field to win back-to-back years.

After winning the award at last year's indoor championships, Alramahi joined Lauren O'Malley when she won in 2018-2019 as the only two Blue Streak student-athletes to win the award.

The NCAA Elite 90 Award is presented to a student-athlete who has produced success not only on the track, but also has achieved the highest academic standards in the classroom. This award is given to the student-athlete who has the highest cumulative grade point average, competing at the finals site of an NCAA Championship event.

To be eligible to earn the NCAA Elite 90 Award, the student-athlete must be at least a sophomore and be in their second year of competition, as well as qualifying for the national championships in their sport.

Basheer's senior year has been off to a great start. Back in January, he broke the NCAA Division III National Record in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:17.97. That was the second-consecutive national record breaking performance for Alramahi (500 meter dash - 1:02.64 in 2025). Following that performance, Basheer was awarded the USTFCCCA Division III National Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.

At this year's NCAC Indoor Championships, the senior was named All-Conference in the 400 meter dash, earning third place overall with a time of 47.16. He also managed to score in the 200 meter dash, placing fourth overall.

The Westlake native will be represented at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, competing in two events including the 800 meter run final (5:00 PM CT) and the 4x400 meter relay final (6:30 PM CT).

Tune in to watch Basheer and the Blue Streaks compete on the national stage this weekend.
