The Men's Basketball trio got the job done in the classroom and on the court

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – A stellar season for the John Carroll Men's Basketball program has ended in not only athletic accolades, but academic ones, as well.

This award featured here combines both, celebrating the definition of true student-athlete. A trio of Blue Streaks on the JCU Men's Basketball team achieved both a 3.5 GPA and appeared in 90% of games or started over 67% of JCU games this season.

Justin Chapman, Sean Collins, and Kyle Irwin have secured College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.

Sean Collins is the lone repeat honoree on the list. The senior started all 30 games for JCU as a stud forward. The Mentor native contributed 6.3 points per game while playing 23.5 minutes per game, third-highest on the team. Collins notched 4.1 rebounds per game, tied for third on the team. The Dat Science major also tabbed 51 assists, 34 steals, and 16 blocks.

Justin Chapman played in all 30 games in his first season in University Heights. The Ohio Northern transfer turned out to be a solid big man for the Blue Streaks, finding more playing time over the course of the season. The Sidney, Ohio native and Finance major notched 94 rebounds, 92 points, and 14 blocks.

Kyle Irwin developed into a top target for passes on open looks from 3-point range. The junior Mayfield Heights native finished second on the team with 44 makes from beyond the 3-point arc, shooting 37.9% from deep. A starter for all 30 games, the Mayfield grad averaged 8.2 points per game. In addition to his shooting prowess, the Biology major tied for third with Collins with 4.1 rebounds per game.
