Men’s Track & Field Takes Part In Split Squad Weekend At Bucknell & Mount Union

LEWISBURG, PA & ALLIANCE, OH – The Blue Streaks competed in their first split squad of the outdoor season at both Mount Union and Bucknell this past weekend. 

Both Joey Naiman and Nate Julien ran at the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell, while the rest of the team competed at the John Homon Open Invite at Mount Union. 

Several personal bests, as well as new conference marks were made throughout the weekend in various events for the Blue & Gold.

Ethan Show (200 Meter Dash): 22.64

To get the day started, at the Bison Outdoor Classic, Joey ran in the steeplechase for the first time this season and placed 49th overall with a time of 9:53.63. 

Julien ran in his first 10000 meter race this season and posted a time of 32:31.65 to place 15th overall. 

Looking at the results from Mount Union, in the field events, Julius Kimbrough would bounce back and earn the victory in the high jump with a mark of 2.00 meters (6' 6.75"). Following behind Kimbrough was Jordon Rodman as he secured a mark of 1.90 meters (6' 2.75") to place sixth. 

Both Moose Frombach and Cole Mayer earned new personal bests in the discus throw. 

The distance crew took a step in the right direction, earning various new marks throughout the day. 

Sophomore Matthew Dienes had an impressive double in the 1500 and 800 meter runs. His time of 4:04.61 is a new personal best and ranks him 11th in the conference. 

Another athlete who earned a new personal best in the 1500 was senior Brian Standley running 4:08.62 to place seventh overall. 

Tony Tirado finds himself in the mix for a top finish in the 400 meter hurdles. His time of 55.24 puts him at second in the conference. 

This group will now regroup and prepare for another split squad next weekend as they get into mid-April.

A small contingent will travel to Atlanta for the Georgia Tech Invite, while most of the team will compete at the 56th Sparky Adams Invite hosted by Baldwin Wallace next Friday-Saturday, April 17th-18th.
