Men’s Track & Field Takes Trips To Georgia Tech & Baldwin Wallace For Another Split Squad Weekend

Men's Track & Field Compete In Second Split Squad Weekend of The 2026 Season
ATLANTA, GA & BEREA, OH – The Blue Streaks competed in their second split squad weekend of the season, traveling to Georgia Tech and Baldwin Wallace University. 

Several athletes earned new personal bests, while others have made themselves known in the national rankings. 

At Baldwin Wallace, the men took home a sixth place finish, scoring a total of 65.5 points.

The humid weather in Atlanta didn't overwhelm the group as both Sam Su and the men's 4x400 meter relay had stellar performances for the Blue & Gold.

Sam has put himself in the top five in Division III after running 3:46.83 in the 1500 meter run. He is currently ranked fourth overall. 

The men's 4x400 meter relay of Basheer Alramahi, Dustin Horner, Tyler Gast, & Lars Broberg ran 3:11.82 to place seventh overall in the race. Their time puts them at number one in Division III. 

At Baldwin Wallace, the energy kept rolling from one after the other battling through the rain. 

Both Cole Mayer and Moose Frombach placed high in their respective events including the shot put and hammer throw. 

Julius Kimbrough placed second overall in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.00 meters (6' 6.75") just missing a personal best for himself. 

In the 400 meter dash, Tim Herczog posted another solid performance with a time of 50.07 seconds to place in the top 10. 

The distance crew had a great day, highlighted by several key performances that ranks them high in the North Coast Athletic Conference. 

Chris Whiting earned a new personal best of 3:53.35 to place second overall in the men's 1500 meter run. This was a big jump for the junior out of West Geauga. 

In the 800 meter run, Ebrahim Alzraqat (1:56.39), Jordan Shininger (1:57.66), and Aiden Walter (1:59.19) all earned new personal bests working together in different heats. 

Matthew Dienes and Phil Coury enter themselves into the conversation as they are now ranked in the top 15 in the conference in the men's 5000 meter run with times of 15:22.11 and 15:24.75. 

This was a solid weekend for the Blue Streaks as they will now have one more week remaining until championship competition.
