Sophomore Sam Su got the day started in the men's 1500 meter preliminary round and placed second overall with a time of 3:46.63.

This was a personal best for the Woodridge native this outdoor season as he will now look to collect his second All-American accolade of his career.

Momentum continued to roll on from there as the men's 4x400 meter relay also earned their spot in the final this Saturday.

The relay consisting of Tyler Gast, Jack Arnold, Tony Tirado, and Basheer Alramahi placed fourth overall with a time of 3:10.75, making it the fastest prelim time run by JCU at a national championship.

Moving forward, the Blue Streaks will now look to send more of their qualifiers to the finals after an impressive first day.
