CLEVELAND – The inaugural season of John Carroll Field Hockey is getting closer and closer.

Heading into the first season of JCU Field Hockey, the expectations have been set with the release of the North Coast Athletic Conference preseason poll.

The Blue Streaks are tied for eighth in the NCAC in the coaches poll.

John Carroll notched 43 points for a tie with Oberlin for eighth. The NCAC has 11 teams in the conference for field hockey (including three affiliate teams: Allegheny, Washington & Jefferson, and Transylvania).

Gina Stephan is set to lead the Blue Streaks into the first season for the program. The Blue Streaks are a very veteran squad for a program making its debut. John Carroll has four seniors and one junior to help guide the program.

Denison leads the poll with 115 points and 6 first-place votes. Ohio Wesleyan followed closely in second with 111 points and 3 first-place votes. DePauw tabbed a pair of first-place votes and 98 points.

Wittenberg (80), Kenyon (77), Allegheny (61), and Washington & Jefferson (49) stand above JCU in spots four-seven. Wooster (31) and Transylvania (18) round out the poll.

The program makes its debut on September 1 at SUNY Brockport. John Carroll will open up at home at Schweickert Field on September 12 vs. Centre College at 12 pm.
