STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – How many records can you break in one weekend in golf?Â
For John Carroll Men's Golf, the answer equaled a remarkable four records.Â
The Blue Streaks shattered the 18-hole team score to par, the 36-hole team score, 18-hole lowest individual score, and 36-hole lowest individual score.
Without a doubt, the best scoring weekend in JCU Men's Golf history.
John Carroll's "A" Team captured the team title at the tough, tree-lined Toftrees Invitational in State College, Pennsylvania with a fantastic final line of 282-280-562 (-14). This set a new 36 hole team scoring record and led to a 11 stroke victory.
The Blue Streaks' Round 2 mark of eight-under-par surpassed JCU's seven-under-par 18-hole record a week ago. JCU led the field with the most birdies and fewest double bogeys, a winning strategy.Â
Meanwhile, JCU's "B" Team did very well at the Jimmy Hanlin Invitational hosted by Ohio Northern at Little Mountain Country Club in Painesville. Guided by medalist Kamden Mowry, the Blue Streaks carded a final line of 290-305-595 (+35) to finish in third.
Justy VonLehmden and Kamden Mowry, competing in different tournaments, managed to both break Blake Furgerson's previous 36-hole record of 137 by one stroke. VonLehmden carded an eight under par 136 (par 144) while Mowry carded a four under par 136 (par 140).
The team at Toftree took advantage by leading the field in birdies and posting the fewest double bogeys. A winning formula no doubt.Â
"We are always talking about minimizing our mistakes," Head Coach Jeff Pawlowski '91 stated. "I am very proud of the guys for being patient when they were out of position and for putting their foot on the gas when birdie opportunities presented themselves."
VonLehmden made four birdies in Round 1 to card a three-under-par mark of 69. The Toledo native one-upped himself on Monday, firing up five birdies on the back nine alone. The star ended with a birdie to finish with a five-under-par 67 and second place in the invitational. With his final line of 69-67-136 (-8), VonLehmden etched his name in the record books.
Also at Toftrees, Wade Boyle followed up his NCAC Athlete of the Week effort at the Ted Barclay Invitational with a fantastic tournament. The senior opened with a 71 (-1) on Sunday with a trio of birdies. On Monday, the Greensburg, Pennsylvania native ripped birdies on three of four holes on the back nine. In a near flawless round, the veteran snagged a 68 (-4) to end the weekend in fourth place.Â
Austin Malley matched Boyle on the first day of the event, locking in a 71 (-1) in the first round. The senior penned five birdies in his second round, finishing with another one-under-par score. The Venetia, Pennsylvania native tied for fifth in the event.
Daniel Donahue started the event on a heater with back-to-back birdies on No. 2 and 3 to begin his opening round. Donahue also finished at one-under-par on Sunday. A handful of bogeys forced him to settle for a still very solid two-over-par effort on Monday and a tie for 10th.Â
Owen Tehan rounded out the bunch on both days. The sophomore slotted in with the final score on Sunday and Monday with a pair of two-over-par rounds. Tehan birdied No. 12 on both days.
Meanwhile, all Kamden Mowry did to lead the "B" Team on Sunday was set the program record for lowest 18-hole and 36-hole scores.Â
The Ashland native played the best round of golf in program history score-wise, beating out Blake Furgerson's round of 65 (achieved on September 15, 2009 at Oak Haven Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio). Mowry tallied three birdies on the front before registering three straight birdies on No. 14-16.
"[I] trusted my process, stayed positive, and had a lot of fun today," Mowry said after the round.
Mowry compiled four birdies on Monday but a couple bogeys kept him from taking the 36-hole record for himself. The senior shott a mere two-over-par 72, good enough to preserve a nine-stroke victory for medalist honors and put his name in the record book next to Justy.
Ethan Cooper stood second on the squad with a final tally of 74-77-151 (+11). Carson Meyer and Nick Pihl compiled identical marks of 77-78-155.
Competing individually, Max Devins tied with Cooper with a final mark of eleven-over-par at 77-74-151. Wyatt Lindholm finished not too far back with a line of 76-79-155, tying Meyer and Pihl. Joseph Boon rounded it out with a tally of 79-80-159.

The Blue Streaks will head to the Guy & Jeanne Kuhn Memorial Invitational at Allegheny next weekend.
