Dylan Halm’s Late Goal Propels Blue Streaks Over Pioneers On Senior Day

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – On a rainy day from Don Shula Stadium, the Blue Streaks returned to the field and took on the Marietta Pioneers on senior day.

The Blue & Gold would earn the victory on McCarthy Weekend by a final score of 1-0 to extend their winning streak against the Pioneers to four games.

After a 1-1 tie against Penn State Behrend this past Wednesday, the Blue Streaks get themselves back in the win column thanks to an 89th minute goal from Dylan Halm to end their four-game homestand.

The first half saw both teams trading possessions early, but a few opportunities drawn up from the Blue Streaks got their offense kicking into high gear, keeping the pressure on Marietta goalkeeper Noah Walker.

In the 8th minute of play, Bryce Sampson booted the ball down field for Louis Roseberry to get a one-on-one opportunity with the defender, but a deflected shot from the Pioneers limited their chance to get on the board first.

The opportunities continued in favor of the Blue Streaks as a cross from Luka Pranjeta to Ryan Cvitkovic set up a chance to break open the scoring, but Marietta was there to block the shot.

A total of five yellow cards in the first half from Marietta limited their chances of trying to find a consistent rhythm in their offense.

With both teams looking to find a breakthrough, the first half resulted in a back-and-forth battle.

Throughout the second half, JCU was able to put the ball on goal, but just couldn't find the back of the net.

Noah Walker made some crucial saves that kept JCU from breaking the scoreless tie early.

As both teams were fighting tooth and nail down the field, the Blue & Gold found control of the ball in the Marietta zone.

With a corner kick from Aiden West, the ball deflected off the Marietta defense to Dylan Halm for him to connect on a kick past the goalkeeper in the low center zone.

After several opportunities from the Blue Streaks throughout the entirety of the match, Halm would play the hero and help the group to earn their third win of the 2026 season in the 89th minute of play.

Coach Dejan Mladenovic '06, '25G and his squad move to 3-3-1 on the year and will end McCarthy Weekend on a high note.
