Field Hockey Gains their First NCAC Win of the Season

The Streaks dominated offensively in their second NCAC contest of the season.

WASHINGTON, PA - The Blue Streaks came out hot this Saturday afternoon as they faced an NCAC foe, Washington & Jefferson.

John Carroll finished with a 4-0 shutout victory, giving them their first NCAC win of the season.

Throughout the first quarter, the Streaks dominated offensively with 6 shots on goal. Kennedi Spencer capitalized on this offensive possession and got the Streaks their first goal of the game at 12:45.

The Streaks entered the 2nd quarter with a 1-0 leg up on the Presidents. A penalty corner for the Streaks led to a goal from Francesca Rao with help from Miako Dallas at 21:16. For the first time this season, the Streaks have a 2-0 lead on their opponent.

The Streaks kept the momentum going, as Tiera Jeremy found the back of the cage with just 30 seconds left in the quarter. Jeremy's goal gave the Streaks the 3-0 lead going into the half.

The second quarter was also the only quarter that the Streaks allowed the Presidents to take any shots on cage.

As the game progressed, the Streaks did not slow down. John Carroll got their fair share of penalty corners throughout the game- tallying 7 on the day.

Once again, Francesca Rao was able to capitalize off of this and find the back of the cage. With help from Mia Curtis, Rao gave way to the 4-0 lead for the Streaks.

The rest of the game was smooth sailing after that. John Carroll only allowed the Presidents 3 shots, 2 of which were on cage, throughout the afternoon.

Lots of improvement was seen from Carroll throughout the day. Notably, the decrease in the fouls and penalty corners given to the opponent. The Streaks only allowed the Presidents 1 penalty corner.

The Streaks also totaled 23 shots, which is almost double their shots per game average.

John Carroll is now 1-1 in the NCAC and snagged their second win of the season.
