Ivory Travers Claims First Career NCAC Athlete of the Week honor

The senior stars as the NCAC's defensive player of the week for football

CLEVELAND – In every game this season, the John Carroll defense has excelled on the gridiron.

This past week, the Blue Streaks held the Wittenberg Tigers to just 3 points, which came off a turnover. The wrecking ball this week has been honored for his work.

Ivory Travers is the North Coast Athletic Conference's Athlete of the Week on defense for football this week. 

Travers is in the midst of a fantastic senior season. The Pittsburgh native roared for the Blue Streaks on Saturday, topping the team with 7 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks. The veteran hassled the quarterback all day, as hosts limited the Tigers to just 7-of-19 passing for 61 yards. 

Thanks to Travers' leadership, Wittenberg struggled on the ground as well. The Tigers mustered just 2.4 yards per carry 35 attempts.

The JCU defense has been dominant all season, leading the conference with just 6 points allowed per game. JCU's first string defense has not allowed a touchdown through four games. 

For the season, Travers has 6.5 tackles for loss, tied for tops in the NCAC. In total, the Upper St. Clair grad has 17 tackles and 3 sacks. 

Travers and the Blue Streaks face a major test on Saturday, as JCU heads to #18 WashU for a huge NCAC test in St. Louis.
