Finished fourth at the Sudeck Invitational (9/2/2016) with a time of 20:12.0 ... Completed the Yellow Jacket Invitational with a team-leading mark of 26:58.5 ... Elliot achieved an 11 second PR the next race at the All Ohio XC Championship, crossing in 80th in 26:47.3! ... Finished in 23rd at the OAC Championship ... At the NCAA DIII Great Lakes Region XC Championship, Thorkelson bested his former 8k PR by 45 seconds, crossing the line in 48th (26:02.9).
2016 Outdoor
At the Mount Union - Homon Invite, he ran his first JCU 800m, clocking 2:06.29 for 17th place ... Ran two 5000m races, finishing in 15:29.57 at the Bison Outdoor Classic and placed 16th at the OAC Outdoor Championship (16:00.71) ... Also ran his second career 10k at OAC, placing 8th in 32:56.87.
2015-16 Indoor
Had a tremendous season, finishing with a lot of high places and a PR! ... At the opening meet (OAC Split Meet with Mount Union), Thorkelson ran 2:45 in his first 1000m as a Blue Streak, finishing 8th ... At the same meet, he placed 5th in the mile in 4:33.82, just five seconds from his PR ... Elliot ran three 3k's this season, winning the race at the Joe Banks Invitational (9:04.26) and had his best time of the season the next week at the DIII All Ohio Indoor Championship, crossing in 9th place (8:57.75) ... He also ran two 5k's, each time separated by a second, but the best time came at the OAC Indoor Championship, running 15:40.4, good for 12th.
2015 Cross Country
Began the season with a 33 second PR in the 6k at the Sudeck Sundown Classic 6k, grabbing the bronze in the race (20:03.3) ... At the Behrend Invite, he won the 4.98M competition, finishing in 26:27.6 ... Finished 33rd in 25:21 at the All Ohio XC Championship, an 8k PR! ... Was a top 10 finisher at the OAC Cross Country Championship, racing in at 25:33.1 in the 8k ... Concluded the season well with a
25:51.8 time and 20th place finish in the NCAA DIII Great Lakes Region Cross Country Championship.
2015 Outdoor
Showed versatility in the Spring with a trio of top finishes in three different events ... Finished 1st in the 1,500 at the OWU Ron Althoff Final Qualifying Meet with a time of 4:05.02 ... Placed 3rd in the 5,000 at the Muskingum - Amy Adams Memorial with a time of 15:22.26 ... Also came in 6th place at the OAC Championships for the 10,000 events with a time of 32:09.78.
2014-15 Indoor
Had numerous top finishes including 2nd at the OAC North Split Meet with a remarkable time of 10:45.79 ... Placed 7th at the All-Ohio DIII Track and Field Championship in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:55.07 ... Also had a pair of 8th place finishes in the 3,000 at both the OAC Indoor Championships (8:55.04) and the SPIRE North Coast Indoor T&F Open (8:47.83).
2014 Cross Country
Impact freshman who earned prestigious distinction of qualifying individually for NCAA Division III National Championship as a freshman ... Placed 17th at regionals to earn All-Region honors with time of 24:58.17 ... Ninth at OAC Championship to earn first team All-OAC with time of 27:39.00 ... Narrowly missed All-Ohio honors finishing 21st at 26:24.78 but did help JCU to the program's first-ever All-Ohio title ... Took 15th at the National Catholic Championships.
