Cuyahoga Gold Bowl: 2014

Sept. 27 – Don ShulaStadium

It was Homecoming on the campus of John Carroll University and the Blue Streaks put on quite the show. On the second play of the game, Senior quarterback Mark Meyers found a wide open Marshall Howell for a 60-yard touchdown and the fireworks began. Meyers would connect on scores of 60, 23, 11, 8, and 21 yard touchdown passes. Howell caught two, Brian Kornowski, Zach Strippy, and Brendan Carozzoni would haul in one each. Meyers' day was complete at the end of the third quarter, he finished 22-34 for 374 yards and 5 touchdowns. The defense and special teams made their impact as well. Freshman Mason McKenrick came up with a blocked punt and Jimmy King and David Porter intercepted BW quarterback Tyler Moeglin in back to back posessions. The Blue Streak defense would total six sacks on the evening but would lose the shutout late in the 4th quarter. John Carroll dominated from start to finish to tie the overall Gold Bowl Series up at 25-25-4.
