Craig Smith II will be returning for a second year as the special teams coordinator and receivers coach. Off the field, he serves as the assistant football operations manager, and involved with recruiting, and strength and conditioning during the off season.

Smith is a 2006 graduate of Bridgewater College, where he was a captain during both his junior and senior seasons. He started at middle linebacker, and was twice named to the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference team.

Before coming to JCU, Smith spent one season as a graduate assistant at St. Vincent (PA) College, where he helped start the football once again after a 45-year absence of the sport at St. Vincent.

A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Smith received his bachelor's degree in Health and Exercise Science at Bridgewater.
