RECRUITING AREAS: Ohio (West side of Cleveland, Stark, Summit, Portage, Wayne, and Tuscarawas Counties)

Eric Copeland finished his second season as an assistant coach on the John Carroll University football coaching staff in the 2020-21 school year. He serves as an assistant coach specializing in coaching cornerbacks.

In his first season at John Carroll, Copeland guided cornerback Ariel Jimenez to earning All-OAC honorable mention. The JCU defense only allowed 148 yards per game which was eighth best in Division III. 

Prior to working with the Blue Streaks, Copeland served as an assistant coach at Massillon Washington High School during the 2017 and 2018 seasons. In 2018 under his direction, the defense only allowed 14.8 points per game and the team finished as the Division II State Runner-Up. He also aided the junior varsity team as the defensive coordinator and special teams coordinator. 

During the 2017 season for Massillon Washington, Copeland coached as an offensive assistant for the OHSAA Division II Region VII Champions,

Copeland began his coaching career at Rittman in 2015, where he contributed to the team as the assistant defensive coordinator. Additionally, he coached linebackers, running backs, and H-Backs. Three of his linebackers received Wayne County Athletic Conference honorable mention.

Copeland is a graduate of the University of Akron, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Sports Studies with a concentration in Coaching Education. He graduated from Massilon in 2013, where he was a captain on the football team.
