Kyle Hoke enters his second season on the John Carroll University football coaching staff as the Defensive Coordinator.
In 2017, Hoke served as the Defensive Coordinator. In this role, LB Mason McKenrick earned the Gene Slaughter Award, named to the most outstanding linebacker in the OAC. The John Carroll defense ranked No. 2 in the OAC in points against with 22.1 average per game.
Prior to John Carroll, Hoke was on the University of South Carolina football coaching staff as a Graduate Assistant for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. He worked primarily with the linebackers and was responsible for running position meeting and defensive breakdowns.
For the 2014 season, Hoke worked for the United States Military Academy as a Defensive Quality Control Coach. He worked primarily with the defensive backs by putting together practice scripts, drawing scout team cards and organizing drills.
Hoke worked as a Graduate Assistant for Western Michigan University for the 2012 and 2013 seasons. He worked with the defensive backs and special teams. He also helped with recruiting and summer camps.
Hoke played collegiate football at Ball State University while earning his Bachelor Degree in Sociology with a minor in Business in 2012.
