The longest continuously tenured member of the John Carroll coaching staff starts his 23rd year on the sidelines. After spending the last 12 years as offensive coordinator, Dolciato adds associate head coach and senior offensive coordinator to his resume in 2013. He will continue to coach running backs for the Blue Streaks as well.

Dolciato was named the 2011 OAC Assistant Coach of the Year for overseeing an offense that averaged 406.5 yards and more than 30 points per game. Additionally, the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the National Football Foundation named him the 2002 Assistant Football Coach of the Year.

As the offensive coordinator, the Blue Streaks have produced three Mike Gregory Award winners, two Ed Sherman Award winners, one Bob Packard Award winner, seven All-Americans and 44 All-Ohio Athletic Conference players. 2012 marked the second straight season that his offense produced over 400 yards of total offense and more than 30 points per game.

In his 12 years as coordinator, eight of the starting quarterbacks for the Blue and Gold have been in the top 50 in pass efficiency rating in the country.

During his tenure, the team has rewritten many of the school’s offensive records. In 2001, his offense produced the then-single season record for total offense (4,323 yards) and 432.3 yards per game; a record that still stands today.

In 2002, he guided the Blue Streak offensive unit that produced program records in total offense (5,139 yards), scoring offense (476 points), touchdowns (66). In 2010, his offense boasted the best red zone offense in the country in any division of NCAA football with a 97% red zone efficiency rate. In 2012, the offense broke the 2002 record for passing and receiving yards in a single season with 3,352. Under his tutelage, the Blue Streaks have broken 28 offensive records.

Prior to becoming the offensive coordinator, Ron served as the Blue Streak running back coach for nine seasons. It was there that he coached five first team All-OAC backs, three consecutive OAC rushing title winners, the all-time leading rusher in program history and the only player to amass 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving in a career. Dolciato also has the distinction of coaching the all-time leading passer and rusher in JCU history.

As a defensive tackle for the Blue Streaks, Dolciato was selected honorable mention All-OAC and GTE Academic All-American as a senior in 1989, the year John Carroll captured the OAC title and earned a berth in the NCAA Division III playoffs. He earned four varsity letters during his career.

He serves as the Director of Exercise Science in the Department of Education and Allied Studies at John Carroll, and he earned his Doctorate of Philosophy in Leadership for Higher Education in 2010.
