Trent Voss enters his second season with the John Carroll University football program in the 2021-22 school year as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. He specializes in coaching the defensive line and coordinating the defensive run game.
In his first season, Voss helped the Blue Streaks limit foes to 2.8 yards per carry in 3 games. Defensive tackle Daniel Garcar earned All-OAC status, and defensive lineman Harrison Richardson tabbed Honorable Mention All-OAC.
Voss came to JCU after spending three years with the University of Toledo football program. He spent the 2019 season as a defensive quality control coach, assisting the Rockets with defensive schemes and recruiting. During the 2017 and 2018 seasons, Voss was an executive graduate assistant coaching linebackers and safeties.
Under his direction, the Rockets finished second in defensive pass efficiency during their 2017 conference championship season. Voss also assisted in coaching 2018 NFL Draft prospect and Scouting Combine Invitee Ola Adeniyi.
Prior to his time in a coaching role with the Rockets, Voss spent one year at North Port High School in North Port, Florida, coaching linebackers and serving as the strength and conditioning coach.
Voss had a successful career at the University of Toledo from 2011-2015 playing four positions (nickel cornerback, outside linebacker, middle linebacker, and defensive end). He was a team captain in 2015 and was also voted team defensive MVP. In 2014, he was named Go Daddy Bowl MVP and received the Lauterberg Award, which is given to the player with the highest character/dedication to full team success). As a result of his successful collegiate playing career, Voss participated in the San Francisco 49ers NFL Rookie Mini Camp in 2016.
Voss graduated from the University of Toledo in 2015 with a degree in Business Management and earned his Masters of Recreation Administration in 2017.
