Joe Ginley '16 is in his sixth year as the Sports Information Director at John Carroll University in the 2025-26 academic year. He was hired in November 2020.

Ginley is the primary media contact for all 25 sports at JCU. For media or photo requests, please email jginley@jcu.edu.

During his time at John Carroll, Ginley has overseen upgrades and updates to the department, including an enhanced social media presence, leveled-up live broadcasts with more cameras and graphics, and improvements to gameday entertainment. Traffic to JCUSports.com has increased significantly, along with higher social media followers on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

In 2024-25, Ginley won two District Awards and one National Runner-Up Award in the College Sports Communicators Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest. Ginley helped JCU broadcast football and basketball games on RESN (Rock Entertainment Sports Network). Collaborating with campus partners, Ginley helped to bring back John Carroll's mascot, Lobo. During the 2023-24 basketball season, Ginley and his student team executed a card promotion, which contributed to JCU finishing No. 3 in Division III in Men's Basketball Home Attendance. In 2023, Ginley co-authored a book on the 50-year history of Women's Athletics at John Carroll.

Since his arrival, JCU Sports Information has developed into a pipeline to the pros. Several alumni are currently working in the NFL and the MLB. In total, as of June 2025, 19 of his former students are working in sports or the media.

Ginley previously served as the Communications Coordinator for Athletics at Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland from 2016-20. In this role, Ginley covered the school's 16 varsity sports as the lead writer for ignatiuswildcats.com, managed the school's social media channels, and guided the student broadcast network, among other duties.

A 2016 JCU graduate, Ginley majored in communications with minors in history and leadership. During his time at John Carroll, Ginley worked in the sports information department as a senior staff writer and assistant. Ginley was also involved with The Carroll News and WJCU.

Ginley follows in the footsteps of the legendary Chris Wenzler '90. Wenzler led the Sports Information Department from 1990 until his untimely passing in June 2020. His legacy lives on via the Wenzlers Warriors.

In addition to his sports information duties, Ginley serves on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Division III Committee.

Ginley lives in South Euclid with his wonderful wife, Jill, and daughter, Ireland.
