Shawn Cronin enters his fourth year at John Carroll in the 2025-26 academic year. 

Cronin guides operations and facility management at Don Shula Stadium. Cronin handles equipment needs for football and a range of other sports. Cronin plays a key role in facilities management, scheduling, and overseeing student workers. 

Cronin returned to JCU as the Head Athletic Equipment and Facilities Manager in summer 2023 after spending a year as the Equipment Manager at Case Western Reserve University. Cronin is a recognizable face to the John Carroll community, as he previously served as the Assistant Athletic Equipment & Facilities Manager at JCU from 2021-22. 

During his previous stint at John Carroll, Cronin managed the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center, leading the way on facility operations and assisting with scheduling. Cronin handled equipment needs for men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, track & field / cross country, and softball. 

During the 2022-23 academic year, Cronin worked as the Equipment Manager at Case Western Reserve University. Cronin worked primarily with the football team, but also worked with several other teams such as baseball and softball. Cronin played a key role in organizing the athletic department’s equipment archives and storage.

Before his last stint at JCU, Cronin worked for the Iowa Barnstormers of the Indoor Football League. Cronin served as the Running Backs Coach and Equipment Manager in 2020.

Before working for the Barnstormers, Cronin worked for the Washington Valor of the Arena Football League. For the Valor, Cronin served as Coordinator of Football Operations and Equipment from 2018-19, his first year-round job in football. In this position, he was responsible for the daily handling of all equipment, setting up meetings with vendors/clients, ensuring all equipment and apparel was distributed properly, recording and marking of all inventory throughout the duration of the season, and calling/emailing NFL agents about potential clients.

Previously, he spent 2017 with the Valor as the Head Equipment Manager / Video Coordinator.  During his time with the Valor, Cronin garnered recognition for his work. In 2019, he was honored as the Arena Football League Equipment Manager of the Year award. 

Sandwiched between stints with the Valor, Cronin worked for the Philadelphia Soul, also of the Arena Football League.  

In 2016, Cronin worked overseas for the China Arena Football League. Cronin worked as the Equipment Manager, with a variety of duties. He was responsible for the daily handling of all equipment, aiding all six teams with any on and off field duties, maintaining upkeep of all equipment, ensuring all equipment is accounted for between each city, and ensuring each and every player was fitted properly for all equipment. 

Cronin got his start working as the Football Team Head Manager for his alma mater Franklin Pierce University. Cronin graduated in 2015 from Franklin Pierce (a Division II school in Rindge, New Hampshire) with a degree in Sports Management.
