Pat Moran

Pat Moran '00 is in his ninth season as an assistant coach for the John Carroll University Men's Basketball program entering the 2025-26 academic year.

Pat is the brother of head coach Pete Moran as well as former JCU standouts Matt Moran and Bridgette Chicone. He is also the son of legendary John Carroll University coach, Mike Moran.

Moran has helped the Blue Streaks ascend back to the top of the OAC in recent years, with back-to-back-to-back OAC Regular Season Championships along with winning the 2025 and 2024 OAC Tournament Championships. JCU has reached the NCAA Tournament in three straight seasons. 

Pat Moran joined the John Carroll staff with over 21 years of coaching experience at the high school level. Fifteen of those years were as the head coach at Berkshire Jr./Sr. High School and Madison High School. He also holds the record at Madison for most coaching wins.

As a high school head coach, Pat has been named Northeast Ohio District Division I Coach of the Year once and the Division III Coach of the Year twice. He was also named the News-Herald Coach of the Year, the GCBCA Division I Coach of the Year, and the C.V.C and P.A.C Coach of the Year three times. 

Pat has been a social studies teacher for over 20 years and is currently teaching at Madison High School.

A graduate of John Carroll, Pat earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2000 before getting his Master's degree from Marygrove College in 2005.

Pat resides in Mayfield Heights with his wife of over 20 years, Lori, and their three children: Michael (25), who recently graduated from John Carroll, Grace (21), and Lucy (17).
