John Carroll University Athletics

After showing no signs of a sophomore slump in 2009-09, comes back as the unquestioned go-to man and leader of the team. Will be counted on to run the offense for the Blue Streaks - and other teams will undoubtedly make it a top priority to slow him down.

2010-2011
Tied for second on the team in points per game with 13.4 ... Scored a career-high 30 points on the road at Mount Union (1/26) ... Made 37.3% of his three-point attempts on the season.

2009-10
As a sophomore, led the Blue Streaks and was eighth in the OAC in points (14.4 ppg) ... Was fourth in the Conference in assists (3.96 apg), while being very efficient with the basketball and finishing eighth in the league in assist/turnover ratio (+1.29) ... Is a solid defender as he finished fourth in the OAC in steals (1.93 spg) ... Was named OAC Player of the Week on 2/1/2009 after he hit the game-tying shot at the end of regulation and scored a team-high 24 points in what became a 92-89 overtime win at Muskingum ... Followed that with a team-high 18 points to help JCU comeback from an 18-point deficit in an 80-67 win over Baldwin-Wallace ... For his outstanding efforts, he was one of just two sophomores named to the Ohio Athletic Conference first team. 

2008-09
Appeared in all 30 games as a freshman point guard in the 2008-09 season, finishing with a team- and conference leading 48.4% three-point field goal percentage … Named Most Valuable Player of the 2008 Car Coop Weenie Miller Memorial Holiday Hoops Tournament at Hampden Sydney College (12/30/08) ... Had at least one steal or one assist in all but one game as a freshman ... Posted his season high 22 points thanks to 5-7 shooting from beyond the arc in a win at Mount Union (2/4/09).

High School
Was the 2006-07 Ashtabula Star Beacon Player of the Year at Pymatuning Valley High School ... Averaged 13.9 points per game, 8.2 assists, 5.2 rebounds, 5.0 steals, and made 37 three-pointers for a Pymatuning Valley team that reached the regional finals in 2008.

Academic & Personal
An Exercise Science major, carries a 3.0 GPA ... After earning his undergraduate degree, intends to go to graduate school for physical therapy ... Son of Mike and Debbie Schontz.
