For two games tonight, John Carroll hung tough with a team that has spent most of the year ranked in the national top 25 poll.

But volleyball requires a team to win three out of five games, and host Capital University sprinted to the finish to finish off the Blue Streaks in four.

A nearly even split of the openingtwo games saw Capital take game one, 30-28, before JCU bounced back with a 30-27 victory in game two.

The Crusaders then kicked it into an extra gear, ending games three and four on respective 7-1 and 7-2 runs to put the match away.

Meagan Gambone led the JCU effort with 15 kills, while Meredith McDiarmid contributed 44 assists and Emily Jackson tallied 26 digs.

The loss, which was John Carroll's fifth in a row, dropped the Blue Streaks' record to 10-15 overall and 1-5 in the OAC.
