Blue Streaks Gain Ground Against Polar Bears Despite Falling Short In Final Score

John Carroll may have lost the meet but gained some ground against the defending league swimming & diving champions in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet held at Ohio Northern University Saturday afternoon.

The host Polar Bears scored a 144-96 victory thanks to a deeper roster, but John Carroll did win five of the 11 individual races.

Heidi Benson cruised to a 48 second win in the 100 Free, touching the wall in a time of 11:08.22. Later in the meet, she posted a 13-second victory in the 500 Free (5:31.64).

Heather Gilmour was the first place finisher in the 200 Free and the 100 Free. Gilmour's time of 2:03.91 was almost a full five seconds better than the field. She was able to hold off the field in the 100 Free as well with a winning time of 56.67.

Also winning Saturday was Lauren Singley in 3-meter diving with a score of 190.45 points.
