John Carroll won two of the first three races Friday night, but could not sustain the effort as Hiram took control and ran away for a 120-96 victory in a non-conference dual meet in Hiram, Ohio.

The 200-meter Medley Relay quartet pulled off a victory by .14 of a second to start the night off on the right foot for the Blue Streaks, who were making their first competitive appearance in the pool since December 1. Max Wilberding, David Perchinske, Dave Calabria and Nicholas Grady edged Hiram's top team, 2:01.59 to 2:01.73.

Two races later, Grady would pick up another win in the 200 Free, touching the wall almost five seconds ahead of the pack in a time of 2:08.13.

After that, David Essi would be the only Blue Streak to taste victory, as he claimed wins in both 1- and 3-meter diving. Essi scored 194.20 points on the 1-meter board and 237.65 points in the 3-meter event.

The loss drops John Carroll's record to 1-6 on the year.
