Box Score

John Carroll wasted little time in wiping out Oberlin, 94-39, in a non-conference match-up held Tuesday evening in Oberlin, Ohio.

The Blue Streaks held an 11-5 lead at the 12:35 mark after Oberlin's Emily Chu Finkel split a pair of free throws.

Over the next five minutes, John Carroll would essentially put the game out of reach with a 16-0 run. Six different players contributed to the run, with Caitlin Hubach accounting for the last five points on a three-pointer and a pair of free throws.

JCU rode that momentum to a 44-16 halftime lead.

The Blue Streaks would lead by as many as 58 points in the second half before settling on the 55-point final margin.

John Carroll (2-2) was paced  by a career-high 24 points from Whitney Hamilton, who was 8-10 from the field (making her only three-point field goal attempt) and 7-7 from the free throw line. Laura Gruber added a career-best 16 points, and Lee Jennings was one assist shy of a triple-double as she recorded 12 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.

Oberlin (0-3), which was held to 13-63 (.206) shooting from the field and missed all ten of its three-point field goal attempts, was led by nine points from Katie Thompson.

The victory marked the 100th win in Kristie Maravalli's tenure as head coach at John Carroll University.
