Box Scores

John Carroll accomplished two things with its 7-2 victory over Muskingum College Saturday at the Belvoir Blvd. Courts.

Not only did the Blue Streaks secure a winning record in conference play with one match remaining against ninth place Capital (at home on Monday), but it also secured a home match in the quarterfinal round of next week's Ohio Athletic Conference tournament.

John Carroll won two matches in doubles play, with James Steward and Ross Venzke teaming up for just the second time this season to claim an 8-2 triumph in the #2 match. Also winning were Michael Finissi and Chad Reuhs at #3 by an 8-1 count.

Steward at #1, Matt Tomayko at #2, Finissi at #4, Venzke at #5 and Jeff Copp at #6 all won their singles matches in straight sets.

John Carroll is now 5-5 overall and 5-3 in the OAC. Muskingum, whom will in all likelihood be John Carroll's quarterfinal opponent, falls to 7-6 overall and 5-4 in league play.
