John Carroll got back on the winning track in emphatic fashion at the Case Western Reserve University Tournament Friday and Saturday, sweeping all four of its opponents en route to a second-place finish.
On Friday, the Blue Streaks ran through Bethany (25-23, 25-8, 25-14) and Ohio Athletic Conference rival Marietta (25-23, 25-19, 25-20).
The run continued on Saturday, as the Blue Streaks swept both Pitt-Bradford (25-18, 25-16, 25-21) and Waynesburg (25-14, 25-8, 25-17).
John Carroll's four wins over the weekend improved its overall record to 9-4 on the season.
Meredith McDiarmid and MaryEileen Dalton were both named to the all-tournament team. Dalton recorded 35 kills, 12 aces, and 14 blocks -- all of which led the team. She finished with a team-best .412 hitting percentage as well. McDiarmid amassed 139 assists (11.6 per game) to go along with 15 kills, 14 digs and eight aces.
In a pre-determined tiebreaker, host Case Reserve was declared tournament champion as the Spartans also finished the two-day event with a 4-0 record.
