For the first time since last September, JCU could not celebrate a goal scored in a regular season match
Box Score
Scoring goals is rarely a problem for the Blue Streak men's soccer team, but Wednesday night at Case Western Reserve University, John Carroll suffered a rare shutout loss by dropping a 1-0 decision to the Spartans.
This setback marks the first time John Carroll had been shutout in a regular season match since a 1-0 loss to Malone on September 8, 2007. The only other shutout in that stretch was a 0-0 tie against Transylvania in the second round of the 2007 NCAA Division III Tournament.
The only goal of the match was scored by Case Reserve freshman Mark Ihlan in the 71st minute.
JCU had the edge in shots (9-7) and shots on goal (6-3), but could not find the mark in dropping its second consecutive game.
