JCU Baseball Closes Florida Trip On Seven-Game Winning Streak

The John Carroll baseball team closed out its week-long stay in Florida by winning the final seven games on the schedule to head home with an 8-1 record.

All told, John Carroll scored 87 runs in the nine games.

On Thursday against Bluffton, the Blue Streaks built a 5-0 lead through three innings on its way to a 7-1 win. Paul O'Donnell worked a complete game, allowing one run on four hits. he struck out four and walked one in picking up his second win of the week.

Russell Toth keyed the three-run fourth inning with a two RBI double.

Against John Jay on Friday, JCU scored three runs in the first and never looked back in cruising to an 11-4 win. Matthew Pangallo (Crystal Lake, IL, Prairie Ridge) singles home a run and scored another in the first in support of Joe Bossard, who worked five innings for his first collegiate victory.

JCU concluded the trip with a doubleheader sweep of Becker. In game one, the Blue Streaks had to go to 12 innings to defeat the Hawks, 10-9. Cory Tilden got the win in relief.

In the second game, John Carroll had an easier time, winning by a 10-1 count. Tom Schaberl got the start and the win.
