Box Score

John Carroll amassed double figure totals in hits, runs and pitching strikeouts to power past Notre Dame, 10-5, in a non-conference match-up Tuesday night at Paul Serra Field in Euclid, Ohio.

JCU scored once in the first, four times in the fourth, three runs in the seventh and two more in the ninth to defeat NAIA foe Notre Dame for just the second time in seven all-time meetings.

The Blue Streaks trailed 2-1 entering the fourth inning when the bats came alive. Michael Krainz started things off with a bases loaded RBI single to tie the game at 2-2. After Mike Carbo drew a bases loaded walk to give JCU a 3-2 advantage, Brian Benander and Russell Toth each drove in runs to stake the Streaks a 5-2 lead.

Bryan Robinett would break things open in the seventh with his first home run of 2009, a two-run dinger that followed a Tom Hickey walk that led off the inning.

John Carroll would collect 14 hits in support of four Blue Streak pitchers who combined to toss ten strikeouts. Chris Eggleton worked three scoreless innings of relief to earn the decision and improve to 2-0 on the year.

The Blue Streaks are now 12-5 on the year while Notre Dame drops to 5-20.
