Second Half Woes Plague Streaks In Loss To Westminster

Amanda Buxton was one of nine Blue Streaks credited with a shot on goal against Westminster
John Carroll took an early lead and had many opportunities to add to it, but it would be two goals by visiting Westminster in the second half that led to a 2-1 loss for the Streaks Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference women's soccer match-up at Shula Stadium.

Box Score

Caitlyn Walton took the very first shot of the game for the Blue Streaks just a little over two minutes into the contest, and connected on her fourth goal of the season from 25 yards out.

The Blue Streaks would take 18 more shots in the game, but would never again dent the scoreboard.

The 1-0 lead held up for the Blue Streaks until the 65th minute. Kelli Michanowicz took a free kick from 30 yards away that keeper Mackenzie Kenner could not handle. Becca Pecora was in the right place at the right time, and when Kenner collided with another player after touching the ball, she deposited the ball in an open net to tie the game at 1-1.

The winning goal came in the 79th minute, when reigning Presidents' Athletic Conference Player of the Week Danielle Struble lasered a shot from the right side to the lower left corner.

John Carroll's 19 shots were five more than Westminster's total, but 12 of JCU's 19 shots were taken in the first half.

Westminster won its fourth consecutive game and improved to 4-2, while John Carroll slipped to 1-4-1.
