Kyle Buxman's first goal of 2009 helped set the table for a 2-0 victory over Trine
John Carroll survived Trine in the first half, then wore down the Thunder in the second half for a 2-0 victory in the opening round of the OAC-MIAA Shootout Friday evening in Ada, Ohio.

Trine started strong and outshot the Blue Streaks by a 11-4 in the opening 45 minutes. Despite the onslaught of shots, the match remained deadlocked at 0-0 at the intermission.
JCU began to turn the tables in the second half, and broke through with the first tally of the match in the 61st minute.
Kyle Buxman (Poland, OH, Youngstown Cardinal Mooney) would score his first goal since November 3, 2007, when he deposited a shot into the net off a combo play from
Joe Ciacchi (North Royalton, OH, North Royalton) on the corner kick and a one touch pass by
Corey Rider (Vermilion, OH, Vermilion).
Rider would ice the victory with a goal of his own in the 71st minute.
Mike Telzrow (Cleveland, OH, Lutheran West) made four saves to post his second shutout in as many career starts.
John carroll is now 5-1-1 while Trine slips to 3-2.
