Outstanding Second Round Moves Streaks To Fifth Place On Final Day Of JCU Fall Invitational

Kristin Courtney's personal 13-stroke turnaroung mirrored that of her team in helping the Streaks place fifth in their own tournament

Bettering their first round total by 25 shots, the host Blue Streaks moved up three spots in the second and final round of the 2009 John Carroll University Fall Invitational and placed in a tie for fifth place as play concluded Sunday afternoon at Fowler's Mill Golf Course in Chesterland, Ohio.

Final Results

Otterbein rolled to a 17-stroke victory with a final shot tally of 687, followed by Ohio Northern (704), Wittenberg (726) and Mount Union (768). JCU and Wilmington tied for fifth with scores of 797.

The Blue Streaks tied Mount Union for the fourth lowest round Sunday with a mark of 386.

Jackie Leuby (New Albany, OH, New Albany High School) was the top placing JCU golfer, finishing 13th with a score of 183 by carding rounds of 93 and 90. Ashley Pettibon (Center Township, PA, Center High School) also earned a top 20 showing, shooting a 189 (97-92) to place in a tie for 17th.

Epitomizing the day two turnaround was Kristen Courtney (West Chester, Lakota West High School), who finished in a three-way tie for 29th place. After a 107 in the opening round, Courtney improved 13 strokes to card a 94 for a final score of 201.
