Kristen Profeta launched two of John Carroll's seven shots on goal against Allegheny Wednesday
John Carroll women's soccer had not played a home match in 12 days, and the Blue Streaks were hoping Shula Stadium would reverse a recent downward trend.
Unfortunately, a three-goal scoring deluge by the visiting Allegheny Gators in the opening 21 minutes bogged down the Streaks in what became a 4-1 setback Wednesday afternoon in JCU's final tune-up before Ohio Athletic Conference play.
Box Score
Allegheny got goals from Molly Waggoner in the third minute, Ashley Miller in the 19th and Nicole Mascia in the 21st to open up a 3-0 lead.
The Blue Streaks were able to close the gap to 3-1 on
Rachel Grdina's (Perry, OH, Perry) second goal of 2009 on an assist from
Amanda Buxton (Fort Myers, FL, Cypress Lake High School) in the 33rd minute. It was just the fifth goal scored on the Gators through ten matches this season.
JCU could not close the gap any more, however, as Allegheny tacked on a goal in the 89th minute to seal the scoring.
The loss drops the Streaks mark to 2-7-1 on the season, while Allegheny improves to 7-3-0.
