Steady Diet Of Close Games Pays Off With Third Consecutive Win For JCU Women's Soccer

Val Korb's goal gave John Carroll its second consecutive league road win
By not giving up more than two goals in any match thus far in 2010, the John Carroll women's soccer has arguably put itself in position to win every game.

That steady of diet of close matches seems to be paying off handsomely, as the Blue Streaks won their third in a row, this time at Mount Union Tuesday night by a 1-0 count.

JCU is 2-5-2 in contests decided by one goal or less this year, but the two wins have come in the last two matches against Wilmington and Mount Union on the road.

The lone tally was scored in the 60th minute, when Val Korb snuck a shot past the Mount Union keeper. reigning OAC Player of the Week betsy Haigh was credited with the assist.

JCU won the battle of shots, 14-9, in support of Molly Gradowski's three-save shutout. She now has five shutouts this season and 13 in her career.

With teh win, John Carroll evens its record at 6-6-2 overall and has forged a three-way tie for second place in the OAC at 3-1. The Streaks' lone loss in league play was a 1-0 decision against league leader and nationally ranked Otterbein back on October 2.
