Box Score
In the 90 minutes of soccer played at Shula Stadium, the Blue Streaks were in control throughout, posting a 33-3 advantage in shots taken.
The two most important of the 33 were the goals scored by
Jake Milli in the first half and
Ben Vietmeier in the second.
But much happened during the interim, the most significant event being the red card assessed to the leading scorer in the OAC, Muskingum's John Molnar. In the 15th minute, Molnar was sent off the field following a tackle of
Joey Grace in which he was ruled to have come from behind without making a play for the ball.
The result of the red card was that the Muskies were forced to play a man down for the remainder of the match.
Muskingum appeared energized in the first few minutes after Molnar's ejection, but ultimately, the Blue Streaks would break through in the 30th minute.
Joe Ciacchi started the play with a free ball to the right of the box, curling a cross in front of the goal mouth which Milli headed into the net.
John Carroll's 1-0 lead remained intact until Vietmeier scored an unlikely goal in the 57th minute. Reigning OAC Player of the Week
Jeff Kosek slipped a quick pass to Vietmeier, who launched a shot from close to 30 yards out that snuck into the upper left corner.
Carl Contrascier made two saves for the shutout.
With the win, John Carroll is now 10-5 overall and 4-1 in the OAC, while Muskingum slips to 8-5-2 and 2-2-1 in league play.
