Jimmy Ranallo (Willoughby, OH, Notre-Dame Cathedral Latin) and
Alex Vereshchagin (Solon, OH, Solon) each won a pair of events Saturday to help John Carroll top the College of Wooster, 122-109, and finish third at the 2010 Veale Classic hosted by Case Western Reserve University Saturday.
JCU dropped a 129-108 decision Friday night, but bounced back with a win Saturday to finish the competition with a 1-1 record.

Against Wooster, JCU picked up seven wins, but none more important than a 1-2-3 sweep in the 500 Free toward the end of the meet.
Jimmy Ranallo (5:01.22),
Drew Edson (Birmingham, MI, Brother Rice ) (5:08.91) and
Nick Grady (Cleveland, OH, St. Ignatius) (5:15.20) touched the wall in succession to give the Blue Streaks a 103-79 lead with three events remaining.
John Carroll also went 1-2 in the 1000 Free, 50 Free and 100 Free. Grady was the top swimmer in the long distance race, clocking in at 10:59.31, with
Nick Holvey (Akron, OH, Revere ) second at 11:06.12.
Vereshchagin's two wins were part of 1-2 sweeps. In the 50 Free, Vereshchagin (21.43) and
Eric Davis (Canfield, OH, Canfield) (22.09) occupied the top two places, while Vereshchagin (47.57) and
David Sved (Loudonville, OH, Mansfield St. Peters) (49.60) were the top two in the 100 Free.
Ranallo picked up his second victory in the 200 Free (1:49.13).
JCU also claimed first in both relays.
Blake Pinchot (Solon, OH, Solon), Vereshchagin, Davis and Ranallo were winners in the 400 Medley Relay (3:42.65), while Sved, Grady, Holvey and Edson were triumphant in the 400 Free (3:20.91).
On Friday against Oberlin, the Blue Streaks were winners on five occasions. Vershchagin had two of those, and both were 1-2 sweeps. In the 50 Free, Vereshchagin (21.59) and Sved (22.62) scored 13 points for the Streaks, while Vereshchagin (47.54) and Holvey (50.04) earned the same amount in the 100 Free.
Ranallo in the 1650 Free (17:43.16) and Davis in the 100 Fly (53.81) also picked up individual wins.
In the final race of the night, JCU won the 200 Free Relay in 1:28.82. Sved, Ranallo, Davis and Vereshchagin were responsible for the victory.
