A strong second day helped elevate the John Carroll squad into a fourth place tie with Heidelberg as the 2010 Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships came to a conclusion Sunday at Fowler's Mill Golf Course in Chesterland, Ohio.

Otterbein defended its title with a score of 668, 17 strokes ahead of runner-up Ohio Northern (685). Mount Union (742), John Carroll (759) and Heidelberg (759) rounded out the top five.
JCU was in fifth place after day one, but gained six strokes on Heidelberg to forge the tie after the second round.
Jackie Leuby (New Albany, OH, New Albany High School) led the charge, following her first round 87 with a second day 83 for a final tally of 170. Leuby finished in a four-way tie for fourth place.
Also earning top 20 finishes were
Ashley Pettibon (Center Township, PA, Center High School), who carded identical rounds of 91, and
Kristen Courtney (West Chester, Lakota West High School), who improved five strokes from day one to two (96-91). Pettibon's 182 earned her sole possession of 15th place, while Courtney was solo 19th place with her two-round tally of 187.
Julie Slavish (Pittsburgh, Fox Chapel) finished 39th with a 227, while
Hillary Considine (Akron, OH, Archbishop Hoban) was 40th with a 229. Considine improved five strokes on Sunday to figure into the team score.
John Carroll has finished in the top four in each of the last four OAC Championships
