John Skomra had five hits over two games against the #4-ranked team in Division III
An unexpected week off in the heat of the Ohio Athletic Conference race apparently was not good for the Blue Streaks.
Not good at all.
Producing its lowest run output in a doubleheader all season, John Carroll was held in check by the #4 ranked Heidelberg Student Princes. In its first sweep of 2010, JCU fell by a 5-1 score in game one and a 13-2 count in game two.

Game One /
Game Two
Tony Evanko (Mentor, OH, Mentor) may have deserved a better fate in the opener, as he struck out a season-high ten batters without surrendering a single walk. He did, however, cough up four runs on ten hits in his five innings of work.
Trouble was, the offense was not there in support as John Carroll was held to one run on five hits. That was in part due to an equally strong pitching effort from Ethan Holt. The Heidelberg hurler struck out eight without a walk.
Game two was over quickly, as Heidelberg scored three runs in the first, second, fourth and fifth innings to open a 12-2 lead and never looked back.
John Skomra (Buffalo, NY, Canisius)was the most consistent offensive performer, as he accounted for five of John Carroll's 15 hits.
Heidelberg takes over sole possession of first place in the OAC with the two wins, improving to 28-6 overall and 9-3 in the OAC. The Blue Streaks slip to 20-11 and 8-4 in league play.
