Mike Cannell, Ricardo Haley and Karl Roshong breath easier after landing at Newark Airport
Each day that the John Carroll Football Team is on its journey to and from France, Blue Streak junior
Luke Whitworth will correspond through jcusports.com. His reports will be posted as soon as they are received. This is day one - Premier Vol (First Flight)
Today, May 24, 2010, marks the day the Blue Streak Football Team departs from sunny Cleveland to embark on an adventure that we will never forget.
The first day did not start out as smooth as we had planned, with the first flight to Newark, New Jersey, being delayed an hour.
While many of us are feeling anxious about the trip itself, others have an added layer of anxiety. Some Blue Streaks such as
Karl Roshong,
Mike Cannell, Ricardo Haley, and
Phil Bokovitz had never been on a plan before, and this first flight will take them across the Atlantic.
Newark, therefore, would be the test. Although all four arrived a little shaken up, head coach Regis Scafe assured them that, before too long, they will be "sleeping through the night".
We have a little bit of a layover right now, which is allowing me a little time to write this ... and it also means my next report will actually be filed from France.
If plans continue to go smooth this trip is shaping up to be a once in a lifetime opportunity for the Blue Streaks. Keep following along as we will keep a log of our daily adventures, which we hope will include pictures from the game against the team from Belgium.
