Blue Streaks Leave New York With Two Wins From Clarion Hotels Classic

Joe Ciacchi (#5) and Wycliffe Odhiambo (#17) were both named to the all-tournament team at the Clarion Hotels Classic

Other than one small procedural setback, John Carroll's venture to New York this weekend was successful on nearly every front.

On Saturday evening, the Blue Streaks rolled to a 3-1 win over host Fredonia State to complete a sweep of its two opponents at the 2010 Clarion Hotels Classic in Fredonia, New York.

Box Score

After rolling to a 4-2 win over Buffalo State on Friday, John Carroll got off to a quick start thanks to Wycliffe Odhiambo, who scored his second goal in as many days in the fifth minute.

Just before the half, Corey Rider punched in his first goal of 2010 to give the Streaks a 2-0 lead.

Fredonia State cut John Carroll's lead in half with a goal in the 56th minute, but less than ten minutes later, JCU struck again with a goal from Jeff Kosek. David Hickey assisted on both the second and third scores.

Kosek, Odhiambo and Joe Ciacchi were all named to the all-tournament team from the JCU roster.

The Blue Streaks, despite their 2-0 record, were technically runners-up in the tournament. Baldwin-Wallace was declared the champion based on goal differential -- +5 compared to John Carroll's +4. Both teams were 2-0 for the weekend.
