Michael Zumerling and the JCU defense limited Hiram to four shots over the first 85 minutes
It was not
that they lost, it was
how they lost that had the Blue Streaks frustrated Tuesday evening in Hiram.
Despite owning a 13-6 edge in shots, the Blue Streaks were blanked by a 2-0 score in suffering their first loss to a Division III opponent. JCu's only other loss thus far in 2010 was to NAIA power Notre Dame College.
Box Score
JCU peppered Terriers keeper Joe Tatum with 13 shots, including five on goal, but could not ruin his clean sheet.
Hiram would not get to
Carl Contrascier until the 86th minute when Ryan Greenhill scored on a close range free kick. The Terriers would add a second goal in the 89th minute on a counter attack that beat a pulled up Blue Streak defense.
JCU slips to 3-2 with the loss while Hiram improves to 2-4 with the victory.
