Box Scores: vs. Hope / vs. Albion
The weekend results leave John Carroll with a record of 4-3 through seven matches this season.
In Friday's lid lifter, Hope struck quickly midway through the first half with a pair of goals that gave the Flying Dutchmen a 2-0 lead at the break.
John Carroll's attempt to rally got a boost with a goal by Andrew Fatigati in the 84th minute with help from a Joe Ciacchi pass, but the Blue Streaks could not get the equalizier in the closing minutes.
Hope held a 17-9 edge in shots, with JCU keeper Matt DeMarchi making eight stops.
In the Blue Streaks' second match of the weekend against Albion, neither team could get a point on the board in the opening half. It was not until the 52nd minute that a score was recorded, and it would be an unassisted goal by Ciacchi.
JCU would build its lead to 2-0 in the 77th minute when Nathan Sharbaugh found Kyle Buxman for what proved to be the game winning tally.
Albion broke up the shutout bid with a penalty kick goal with 36 seconds left to play in regulation.
JCU won the battle of shots, 11-7, with Carl Contrascier recording the win in goal with three saves to his credit.
