John Carroll University Summer Sports Camps Open For 2011 Registration

The John Carroll University campus will host four sports camps in the summer of 2011
John Carroll University will offer a variety of athletic summer camps in 2011. Four camps are set to improve on the fundamentals of a certain sport while one is an all-encompassing sports camp. All four are now open for registration.

The Mike Moran Basketball Camp will be held at JCU in July. This camp is operated by long time John Carroll men's basketball head coach Mike Moran, who is a three time Ohio Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. Coach Moran has led his teams to nine OAC Championships and ten trips to the NCAA tournament, which included one final four appearance.

At this camp, kids will have the opportunity to learn fundamentals of basketball, different phases of basketball, and have their skills evaluated by a camp staff made up of top college coaches, high school coaches and college players.

John Carroll University Baseball will host summer camps again in 2011. This camp will cover all the aspects of the game of baseball. Kids will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the sports, along with drills, instructional game, and evaluations. 

Operated by John Carroll head baseball coach Marc Thibeault along with is staff (which is made up of collegiate and JCU baseball players) will cover everything from base running to infield and outfield play.

For the first time, John Carroll University will host a Cross Country Camp. Head coach Dara Ford and assistant head coach "Mo" Banton will be in charge, and have lined up an impressive array of instructors to assist.

The four-day camp will involve training run and activities at Lake Erie Beach as well as training sessions at local parks such as the Euclid Creek Reservation and other Cleveland Metro Parks. The focus will be on form drills, strengthening and pool training sessions  and will feature team building exercises, games, and competitions .

Camp participants will also receive presentations about Injury prevention from the Cleveland Clinic, shoe selection and gear from Saucony and Ritchies Sporting Goods, and health and nutrition from Whole Foods

John Carroll University football coach Tom Arth will host the Cleveland Passing Academy High School Skills Camp at Don Shula Stadium. 

Coach Arth was a former NFL quarterback (with Indianapolis and Green Bay) as well as an NCAA Division III quarterback at John Carroll. The Cleveland Passing Academy High School Skills Camp will provide a mulit-faceted methodology that will implement the same techniques used by NFL professionals.

The Swoosh Summer Sports Camp will once again be held at John Carroll University. Kids who attend will have the opportunity to participate in the All Sports camp or the Tennis camp. 

In the all sports camp, the kids will participate in sports such as baseball, basketball, soccer, football, lacrosse, swimming, and capture the flag. In the tennis camp the kids will be able to spend their time on the tennis courts learning fundamentals and playing the game.
