The Blue Streaks went into the weekend at 13-9-0, looking at two away games and one home. On Friday, John Carroll faced off against Rochester Institute of Technology in Scottsdale, NY. RIT scored late in the first period to put up the first points of the game. The Bluestreaks countered with a goal themselves, and took that momentum on a huge run putting up seven unanswered goals, supported by a five goal second period. John Carroll would score two goals in the third, the last of which capped off a hat trick by senior forward
John Walter. They would get the 8-2 victory and head back home to jump into action against Mercyhurst.
Mercyhurst light the light with two goals before JCU posted their first mark. Mercyhurst answered at 10:54 in the third period to push the lead to 3-1. John Carroll closed the period out with two unanswered goals themselves, and went into the third period tied at three. The back and forth action continued with an early goal by Mercyhurst. Parker Phillips tied the game at four, moments later, but JCU would give up a goal in return making the final score 5-4 in a hard fought Bluestreak loss. John Carroll would look to return the favor at Mercyhurst's home rink a day later. The power play was key for John Carroll going 2 for 10 on the way to another 5-4 score. This time though, the Bluestreaks would come out on top.
John Carroll improves to 15-10-0 on the season, and looks forward to this weekend's games against Duquesne and Washington & Jefferson as they will try to gain momentum in the latter part of the season.
