It had been 356 days since the John Carroll volleyball team celebrated a win at home. Teresa Noewer and her teammates made sure that drought would not last another night.

Noewer led the way with a match-high ten kills as the Blue Streaks swept the Ursuline Arrows in three sets at the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center on Tuesday night, 25-17, 25-19, 25-11.

The victory marked the first win at home for John Carroll since an October 13, 2011 match against Ohio Wesleyan.

John Carroll head coach Laura Jensen was pleased with her team's effort in the win.

“It was the most consistent we've been in three sets all year,” said Jensen. “We took care of the ball and capitalized on everything.”

The Blue Streaks (9-13) battled through a difficult start to fall behind 4-3 to the Arrows (2-19), but roared ahead to a 25-17 win on the back of  11 Ursuline errors.

Noewer stepped up in the second game, as the team came back from a five-point deficit to win 25-19. The junior had eight kills in the first two games combined.

“Teresa is a leader so it's really nice to see things work out for her,” said Jensen of Noewer's performance.

John Carroll came out in game three and never looked back, winning by a lopsided 25-11 margin. The offense clicked on all cylinders during an 18-8 run following another early 4-3 Ursuline lead. JCU had nine kills against just one error in the deciding frame.

Coach Jensen reflected on the chance to finally get a win at home.

“I feel like I've seen a huge improvement in our team this season,” remarked Jensen. “It's nice to have the fans see it here at home.”

Lucky for the Blue Streaks and their fans, the wait won't be long, as in less than 48 hours, Oberlin College will pay a visit to the Decarlo Varsity Center -- a place that may once again become an advantage for the home side.
