It was Matt Brodman's (#4) goal in the 74th that proved to be the game winner in Wilmington
Box Score A veteran laden John Carroll men's soccer team flipped its own script Saturday afternoon, relying on a sophomore and a freshman to push the Blue Streaks into a #2 seed in the upcoming Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament.
A 2-1 winner over fourth place Wilmington, JCU struck first when freshman
Shaq Bridges nailed an unassisted goal in the 17th minute of play, beating Quaker keeper Antonio Trujillo.
Cody Sabins tied things up in the 33rd with his fifth goal of the 2012 season for the Quakers. This score held up until well into the second half.
With under 30 minutes to play, sophomore reserve
Matt Brodman sent the Blue Streaks into euphoria with his third goal of the year in the 74th minute.
Carl Contrascier's five saves helped John Carroll hold on late, and the Blue & Gold finish the regular season with a 5-1-3 OAC record, 9-6-3 overall. More importantly, JCU's 18 team points leave the Streaks behind only Ohio Northern (24), and they will receive a first round bye in next week's tournament.
John Carroll reached the OAC title match in 2011 before falling to Ohio Northern.
