Record-wise, the John Carroll women's basketball team could not have begun the 2012-13 season any better.

And with Beth Switzler becoming the fourth Blue Streak to score at least 15 points in game, JCU took care of business against Oberlin College in a 69-52 road win to remain unbeaten at 3-0.

A tight first half gave way to a 12-1 Blue & Gold run to end the half with John Carroll on top, 34-22.

When Lindsay Bernhardt brought Oberlin within five at 52-47 within 6:45 to play in the game, the Streaks scored the next eight points to balloon the lead to 13 and were never threatened again.

JCU picked up 20 steals on the night, and shot 38% (6-16) from 3-point range and 82% (9-11) from the free throw line.

Missy Spahar led the Blue Streaks in scoring for the second consecutive game with 18 points, adding nine rebounds and six steals to her box score.  Switzler and freshman Erin Mog tallied 15 apiece, while Elissa Day contributed eight points (2-2 from 3-point range) in her third collegiate game.

Christina Marquette led Oberlin with 25 points and 12 rebounds.

Up next for the 3-0 Blue Streaks will be their home opener against Case Western Reserve on November 28 at 7:30 p.m.
