Weekend Ends On High Note For JCU Baseball With Win At Denison

Patrick O'Brien did not allow a hit or run in earning his second save of the season
Box Score John Carroll went to the grindstone Sunday afternoon for a hard-fought 3-2 win at Dension, completing a weekend away from University Heights on a high note.

After splitting a pair of 6-4 games against Montclair State and Muskingum in New Concord Saturday, the Blue Streaks made the relatively short trek to Granville to take on the Big Red. 

The Blue Streaks struck first when Dan Potter came around to score on a base hit by Tom Hickey in the first inning.  JCU pushed the lead to 2-0 when Mark Huddle singled in Bobby Sabatino with two outs.

After Denison trimmed the lead to 2-1, JCU picked up a big insurance run in the sixth when Aaron Miller scored on a throwing error.

The Big Red closed the gap to 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth, but reliever Patrick O'Brien pitched a scoreless ninth, retirng the side in order for his second save. Jimmy Spagna started and earned his second win of the year by allowing just one run on six hits.

Hickey and Herringshaw each had three hits for John Carroll, which outhit Denison, 10-6
